The 3 Pillars of Branding

Pillar 2: Authenticity

“Not only are bloggers suckers for the remarkable, so are the people who read blogs .” - Seth Godin

Today, let's talk about Authenticity.

First of all... authenticity sells. Don't believe me? Think about who you buy from. Is it brands that feel fake and too perfect? NOPE.

Also... no one is going to buy anything from beautiful copy.  I mean, when was the last time you bought something because the grammar was perfect?

I'm gonna guess it's been a hot minute.

You bought what you bought cause you wanted it.  Not because you needed it, either.

Yep, I said what I said.

The same is true for your potential clients and leads.  They want to know what's in it for them, and they aren't going to be pulling our their wallets unless you show them the goods.

So, who are you, and why should they trust you?  What can you do for them, and can you do it better than that other person?

Well... can you?

Authenticity is about showing your prospects the real you, and the real skills you have, not hiding behind a beautiful sales page or a company name.  Because once they see YOU, they'll buy because they want to work with the person they like and trust.

Here are some tips for building Authenticity into your business:

  1. Be the real you.  Speak like you.  Write like you.  Correct the spelling and grammar, yes... but don't edit yourself out of your posts and emails.

  1. Include bits of your life and family in your marketing.  Share behind the scenes glimpses, the struggles, etc.  If your newsfeed is all roses, all the time... would YOU believe that was authentic? Of course not.

In my next post, I'm going to share some tips for connecting with your ideal clients and customers... without interacting with them individually at ALL.  That's the third pillar, and it might just be the most important!

Talk soon,

Alyssa
